Touristical places > Région North of Natal > Cabo de São Roque

“Cabo de São Roque” is the point of South America closest to Africa. Certain documents indicate this cape as the likely place of the first ancorage of the Portuguese fleet led by 'Pedro Alvares Cabral'.

On Cabo de São Roque, two trees of the 'gameleiras' species are united by the impressive force of the wind almost forming one tree. For this reason, they have received the popular nickname of tree of love. The inhabitants of the region say that a couple that kisses under the arc formed by both trunks will remain together for life.

An stall set close to the tree offers drinks and sells local products.
