Sibaúma remained for a long time unknown. Today it benefits from its geographical situation, stopping-off place between two tourist areas Pipa and Cunhaú.
Its main attraction is to cross the river Catú with a barge. You will appreciate the natural phenomenon of the joint between the sea and the river.
The name of the village comes from the language, Tupi 'Concha Preta' (Black Shell). Long time ago de area became a Quilombo, from where the slaves of African origin, were doing their settlements when they were escaping from the farms.
The beach of Sibaúma, practically deserted during the week, is frequented the weekend by the village inhabitants. It takes place in front of an agitated sea, except in its southern part where the bathing is pleasant. Nowadays we can notice that the majority of the population is black, a type a bit different from the normal locals who are mixed of white skin people and Indians.
The crossing of the river takes place below the village of Sibaúma and is made on small barge.
In Sibaúma, there is also an Agricultural School 'Escola Agrícola da EMPARN'.
Municipality : Tibau do Sul Distance from Natal : 91 km

In the early hours, after the sunrise, there is a peaceful atmosphere over the river which presents very beautiful sweet colors.
Sibaúma does'nt have a good infrastructure, but it is a very nice place for those who like simple beach bars (barracas), to eat shrimp, fried fish and crab.
Sibauma beach takes profit of its location, between Pipa and Barra de Cunhaú.
